Motor Mounts

I thought my collection of unique motor mounts might spark some interest. These are from some type of electric conversion I have done over the years. I always look forward to the task of engineering mounts for my electric planes.

This is a modified AeroModel mount for an Actro 40-5 on my ¼ scale Cub

I cut off a glass-filled .60 size motor mount and mounted an aluminum plate to accept a Astro 40.

A .60 size conversion using a glass-filled mount with 2 4-40 all-thread straps around a Aveox 1415-2Y.

A easy to build mount using a sheet of .060 aluminum and thick wall tubing.

Another shot showing the mount using a sheet of .060 aluminum and thick wall tubing.

I used a combo of 4 brass struts mounted off the front of the motor and a rear clamp that is used to adjust the thrust angle. Mounted on an Arizona Models DR-1.

This Ken Willard Pool Boy floatplane uses a film canister to house a speed 280 motor and help keep it dry.

Another Graupner Gee Bee fitted with a 400F using thick wall aluminum tubing.

A Graupner Gee Bee fuse and wing showing a custom mount for a Brushless 800e Outrunner Motor by PJS.

This is 4 all-thread rods attached to an aluminum plate at the motor and thru-bolted to the firewall. This took a bit to setup but it was easily adjustable for centering and thrust. This is a Kyosho Gee Bee-Z

A mount for a Hacker C50 series motor. The sides are off an AeroModel mount and new front plate was constructed. Two side struts were added to cut down on the vibration.

A nice mount using the AeroModel mount on another purple motor. This is a unique adaptation to a profile fuse using two angled aluminum brackets.

My old HiperBipe with an Aveox mounted to a Tom Hunt belt drive. This unit is monted on two glass-filled mounts.

My Magic flying with an Aveox 1400 series with a custom .040 aluminum mount.

The Optima-Pro has a removable plastic nose cone and no firewall. I was able to fit a geared Astro 05 into the nose by creating this unique wood mount.

You are looking at my ¼ scale L-19BirdDog still in my hanger waiting to be finished. I’m using a plywood box along with an AeroModel mount to hold a Plettenberg HP 370-40 motor.

This is my Ricochet that I converted from gas. I’m using a Plettenberg HP 300/30 direct drive. I bent up a couple pieces of .040 strips of aluminum to hold the motor from pulling out of its socket.

Sports Aviation STA 40 converted to electric. An AXI 2820-10 using a 3s-2p Li-Poly battery. Using aluminum tubing, cap screws and t-nuts make great standoffs.

This is a speed 400 and Maxon gearbox combo mounted in a modified Sunbird from Skybench.com

Another Aveox motor mounted to a ModelAir-Tech belt drive, hanging from a glass filled mount.

A hard hit damaged the AeroModel mount, motor and gearbox from Hacker, most of which is toast!

A Phasor 45-3 on a Dymond plastic mount, must be strong it survived the crash!
